 Acro Balancing & Japanese Bondage
                                            (Basics/ intermediate)

Montag, 31. Okt bis Freitag, 4. Nov 2011, 11 - 21 Uhr Monday - Friday, October, 31 - Nov, 4, 2011, 11am - 10pm
This is a five-day-introduction to the art of Japanese Bondage (Shibari or Kinbaku) combined with an approach to the magical possibilites of Acro Balancing Body Work. In both techniques Body and Gravity are the elements of interest, in both techniques a specific form of one-to-one communication is explored. The Acro Balancing is extremely healthy for the body and provides strength, coordination and flexibility. Those qualities will serve in the rope bondage classes which will provide the basic techniques for floor work and simple suspensions as well as an insight to creative and aesthetic possibilities.

The workshop is geared to people who want to „study the ropes“ and accompany and deepen their technique through a practice of profound and complex body partner work. There will be three session every day: Acro Balancing in the Morning, Bondage in the afternoon and a Jam or Open Practice in the evening. In the bodwork we will go from simple massage and stretching techniques to the more complex air work of acro balancing, in the rope bondage we will guide you from the first knots to your first suspensions.

The work with the rope is very beneficial for everybody. Performers, body workers, Yoga students or (contact) dancers can widen their technical, acrobatic and creative knowledge of partner work and deepen their emotional, sensual and intelectual understanding of contact. The workshop is also interesting for bondage beginners or riggers with some previous experience who wish to learn suspensions and improve their knowledge of anatomy, deep physical contact and the potential healing aspects of rope bondage. And it is especially valuable for rope models, who would like to improve their skills in a role that is not as passive as it seems, the body work helping them to improve their flexibility and endurance in the ropes and to better understand the dynamics of contact in suspension and how to play with the forces of gravity.

Note: for a more complete experience and Practice the roles of rigger and Model will be switching all the time! For the Bondage You can come and work with a fixed partner, but You don‘t need a fixed partner to apply.

Active Isolated Stretching, and Strengthening, Deep Tissue Specific, Acrobalancing, Aquaticontact, Contact Improvisation (dance), Muscle Energy Technique (muscle tone modulation), Wide Spectrum Bodywork, Dynamic Massage, Somatic Education... are some of the advanced forms of bodywork I practice, teach, or have developed. I shall offer complete descriptions of these modalities soon, yet feel free to contact me with inquiries.

Massage Bodywork in this context refers to an approach that is more focused, exacting, or has matured with the experience of the practitioner. The work my be subtle, or intense, or playful, and may facilitate a significant shift from the status quo for the client. Bodywork requires astute observation, and skills that are well matched to what is apropos for the moment.

Bodywork manifests in many different forms but may transcend protocol to help bring a recipient into a deeper state of well being.

I've been in the practice of professional massage for over 10 years, graduating in Miami, from Lindsey Hopkins Technical Education Center. And 10 years before that I had been developing my practice, based upon my introduction to a classical massage form, termed Swedish Massage, that has become the basis for massage with oil in the western hemisphere.

Two other bodywork forms had prominent influences upon my education in massage. Working with Aaron Mattes RKT, LMT in his clinical facilities for stretching and strengthening. And a half year spent in the north west region of Thailand learning their ancient forms of massage further transformed my practice. My previous ongoing practice in Yoga, and mindfulness was a synergistic compliment to these specialized approaches for moving other peoples bodies.
