Pain can make you feel strong, powerful and present. It is all about technique. The art, the knowledge of the active part is to adminster pain in the right ammount, in he right moment, on the right spot. To read the body of the partner, to understand his or her reactions. The art of the passive part is to invite the pain, to process and to transform it. Only for a few lucky people pain directly creates sexual arousal. Most people prefer pain combined with sensual touch and comfort. In the workshop we will learn the right balance between malice and care that creates an intense and potentially ecstatic experience. We will work with different sources of pain, like whips and floggers, cloth pins, canes, hot wax and others. We will apply various techniques and cover safety issues. Every instrument, every technique creates a different sensation and permits a specific experience, but they all have one thing in common: it is about connection nd trust, And about power and devotion on both sides. The workshop is suitable for beginners, but also for experienced players looking for a different approach or seeking to refine their technique. Bondage & Discipline, Dominance & Submission and Sadomasochism.
It is an umbrella term that includes any mutually pleasurable sexual activity between consenting adults, that involves dominant and submissive role-playing, physical restraint, or pleasurable pain. It always involves an exchange of power between two people that is erotic for both. BDSM is an intimate journey that people take together, a journey that allows them to explore the boundaries of pain and pleasure, the limits of their minds and bodies, and even altered states of consciousness.

Felix Ruckert is using his knowledge of the body to explore and develop BDSM as an art form. His approach is marked by his keen sensibility of the connections between time, space, emotion, and sensation. The workshop explores in a playful way issues like dominance and submission, pain and pleasure, control, responsability, intuition, ecstasy, intimacy, permeability, trust and devotion. It works with dance elements as composition in time and space, improvisation based on anatomic knowledge and technical tools from contact improvisation and other forms of partnering. It also introduces techniques and instruments from sado-masochism, role play and other forms of ritualized sensuality.
A lot of exercises will deal with taking care of your partner's feelings as well as your own, and the ability to clearly communicate fears and limits.

The Workshop participants will be encouraged and guided to develop their own material into highly individual scenes and compositions. This workshop is geared toward people with the maturity and motivation for intense physical and emotional experiences. It is suited for BDSM beginners who are looking for a safe and relaxed athmosphere to begin their exploration. It will, however, also be rewarding for experienced BDSM players with an interest in new ideas and skills.
For dancers and performers it provides new views on the body- mind relation and an enormously interesting source of inspiration.

Half of the day will be dedicated to Body Practices such as Dance, Yoga and Feldenkrais, which will be trained and deepened. Those techniques will provide a common body language and a ground of physical stability, consciousness and well-being. They will also be investigated in terms of their differences and similiarities to forms of SM techniques, such as Bondage, Pain Play, Power Exchange etc.. These techniques - and Felix specific approach to them - will be introduced in the other half of the workshop. This part of the work will propose emotional and creative challenges. An extra time each day is reserved for specific, personal explorations, alone, in couples and smaller groups. The work is about a better understanding of the unison of mind, body and soul. About the synergies between creative and sexual impulses. The analytical approach provides a safe ground to allow the uncontrolled happen. The mindfulness of clear tasks and exercises offers a frame to let intuition guide you. This is not about blurring differences, but rather about highlightening them. Alles eine Frage der Technik. Nur selten erzeugt Schmerz direkt sexuelle Lust, oft im Gegenteil, Die Kunst, die Technik des Aktiven besteht darin den Schmerz gekonnt zu dosieren, den Körper des Partners zu verstehen, seine Reaktionen richtig zu deuten. Die Kunst des Passiven besteht darin sich auf den Schmerz einzulassen, ihn umzudeuten und zu verändern. Im Workshop werden wir lernen die richtige Balance aus Bosheit und Zuwendung zu finden, die eine Intensive, ekstatische Erfahrung ermöglicht. Wir werden mit unterschiedlichen Schmerzquellen arbeiten wie Peitschen, Klammern, heisses Wachs und anderem. Wir werden die unterschiedlichen Techniken erlernen und Sicherheitsaspekte ansprechen. Jedes Instrument verursacht anderen Schmerz und erlaubt andere Erfahrungen. Immer geht es um Verbindung, um Vertrauen, um Macht und Hingabe auf beiden Seiten. Bevor er mit stark konzeptuell geprägten Stücken wie HAUTNAH, RING, DELUXE JOY PILOT und SECRET SERVICE international bekannt wurde tanzte er u.a. mit Wanda Golonka/ VA Wölfl, Mathilde Monnier und Pina Bausch. Oft gibt Ruckert dem Zuschauer eine aktive Rolle in der Aufführung und konfrontiert ihn mit intensiven Emotionen. Für diese interaktiven Choreografien erfindet er spezielle Techniken zur physischen Kommunikation und Wahrnehmung und entwickelt diese zu einer Kunst der Berührung. Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt seiner Arbeit ist die Entwicklung von Improvisationsstrukturen und Kompositionstechniken. In den letzten Jahren arbeitete er auch vermehrt als Gastchoreograph für klassische Ensembles (Ballet du Rhin, Mulhouse, National Ballet Vietnam, Tokyo Star Dancers). Er beschäftigt sich seit mehreren Jahren mit BDSM und integriert auch diese Erfahrungen in seine Arbeit. Seit März 2007 leitet er die schwelle7 in Berlin-Wedding.
